Hi! I'm Raymond Yang, a full-stack developer proficient with Node, Express, React, PostgreSQL, and Python. Although my background is originally in engineering, I found a passion for programming and decided to transition to a career in software development. In November of 2018, I joined DigitalCrafts, one of Houston's top-rated coding bootcamps, to make that transition.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, computer and IT occupations are projected to grow 13% by 2026. Yet, the bureau estimates that by 2020, there will be over 1.4 million computer and IT-related positions with only 400,000 computer science graduates to fill those roles. As demand for developers grows, companies are increasingly incentivized to look for candidates from non-traditional backgrounds. My goal is to help bridge this gap by contributing to organizations such as Girl Develop It and open source projects such as HTX Tech Jobs which seek to make programming both as an interest and as a career more accessible for individuals with non-traditional backgrounds.

Occasionally, I browse dribbble for design inspiration, read engineering blogs about how big companies solve complex challenges, and play ping pong (I'm accepting challenges).
